Your step-by-step guide to earning a Life & Health license in all 18 states we serve — study options, exam scheduling, and real costs.
Step 2 of 3 · After Licensing, Before Contracting
You're licensed. Before any carrier will let you write a Medicare application, they need two things from you: your annual AHIP certification and proof of E&O insurance. Here's exactly where to get both and what they cost.
AHIP's Medicare + Fraud, Waste & Abuse training is the CMS-compliant annual certification carriers require before they'll appoint you. You take it once per plan year, every year you sell.
| Provider | Typical Cost | Limits | How Fast | Why Agents Pick It |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NAPAnapa-benefits.org | $27–$50/mo | $1M/$1M up to $1M/$3M | Instant | The most common choice among Medicare agents. Names Medicare Advantage, Med Supp and Part D explicitly. $0 deductible on health/life, and includes cyber/privacy and regulatory defense. Membership fee is bundled in. |
| CalSurancecalsurance.com/lh | ~$400/yr | $1M/$1M and up | Fast online | Defense costs paid outside your limits, which is meaningfully better coverage. Lots of FMO-sponsored discount programs — ask us before you enroll retail. |
| 360 Coverage Pros360coveragepros.com | $375–$440/yr | $1M/$2M | Instant | Higher aggregate than most at this price, and the policy covers your support staff too. Newly licensed agents get the lower rate. |
| SuranceBay (EOforLife)eno.surancebay.com | $354–$601/yr | $1M/$3M | Instant | Best convenience play: it's built into SureLC, so your certificate flows straight into carrier contracting paperwork without you uploading anything. |
| Rockwood Programsrockwoodinsurance.com | ~$440–$600/yr | $1M/$1M and up | Underwritten | Where to go if instant-issue declines you — prior claims, a license action, a bankruptcy or felony in your history. Real underwriters, quarterly payment option. |
You're officially ready to sell. Last step is picking your carriers — tick the ones you want, fill out one application, and we submit you to all of them.
